Skeptical Hippo @ Manly Curls!

I will admit I am not the most up-to-date guy when it comes to internet trends. I tend to be the guy who is always last to pick on online trends and what is going on in the cybercosmos. I attribute this lack of awareness to not using online forums enough, despite I spend some relevant time researching nerdy stuff online (let’s call it intellectual reading, shall we?). Moreover, I tend not to be interested in online trends although, at times, one or two will spark my attention.

Online forums these days seem to be where all popular social trends (and what not) start, which really goes to demonstrate the strength of the online social movement. Even multinationals have picked up on this and have, in recent years, developed the field of, what is so called, viral marketing: a field which took off to become a successful and established method of increasing sales/public exposure. In fact, if you happen to be looking for a job in the Marketing field, chances are that 9 out of 10 times, you will be required to be a quasi guru in online social media and be acquaintanced with different cyber-examining tools. I personally know a guy who became a Marketing manager for a company, despite no previous Marketing experience, by having a popular Youtube account. Quite an interesting time nowadays to develop oneself in this field, I’d say.

Due to my peculiar slow-updating knowledge of online trends, I still find memes funny and novel. Memes, for those who don’t know, are captions in which a message is written which directly references the caption itself in a, most of the time, humorous manner while relating/associating it to a particular topic which is being debated, talked about or is popular. Memes can also convey motivational messages, ironic messages or even subliminal messages, and they have been very popular since the mid-2000’s .

There are quite a few ones that I find hilarious and, because today I accidently bumped into this particular one and found it funny, I will post it here.

A meme picture of the famous skeptical hippo

Hilarious. Skeptical Hippo has been an internet sensation for years yet I only got to first see this meme a few months ago. For some strange reason I find this meme very comical, especially since Skeptical Hippo tends to be used in online forums where so called “trolling” occurs. I have seen some hilarious use of this meme when trolling has occurred so Skeptical Hippo is always a welcomed sight every time I bump into it when browsing the internetz (no, I haven’t misspelled “internet”, I am being cyber hip and trendy with the use of the “z”, or so I claim).

What is more is that Skeptical Hippo managed to also leave his skepticism aside some time during his online career.

You may be wondering by now if I have some bizarre fetish for hippos (actual name in plural is hippopothamuses) or if I have nothing better to do than post memes of hippos. Well, as usual, the answer is never black and white: I think hippos are some cool animals and when I was a baby my first cuddly toy was not a teddy bear but an actual hippo. Not a coincidence that I have so much appreciation for these cool and laid-back big creatures. To answer the second of your possible thoughts: yes, I have something better to do than posting memes of hippos and that is posting about my recent body transformation where I went from out of shape to having a six pack!

Yes, my friends, you have read right. I am trying to find the time to post at Manly Curls my recent body transformation where I kicked my fat out of shape ass and turned it into a lean mean machine. I lost almost 40 pounds in 4 months and got myself a six pack (abs not beer!), built solid muscle and, most importantly, I improved my health to the best it has ever been! Not only will you get pics of me illustrating the transformation but I will also post videos of my recent weight training workouts where I power clean 275lbs and crack my Iphone in the process or perform exotic lifts such as a Turkish get up (not to be confused with Turkish delights). I am just trying to find right now the time in these coming days to post the whole content, whether it’ll be tomorrow or in the weekend but, rest assured, it will be posted! You can’t miss it as it will give you some inspiration to take the steps to improve your life in whichever area you may need to improve.

So, for the time being, I hope Skeptical Hippo has at least made you smile and I will be seeing you here very soon.

All the best,

Rogelio

I think someone’s hacked this page.

    1st pic looks suspect!

Thanks Nat! Believe it or not that picture was put to stop the hotlinking of the picture by other sites (which consumes my site’s own bandwith). I’ve replaced it now with the real skeptical hippo meme picture, but that other one worked to have people not hotlinking the picture and remove it from those sites which were hotlinking it. We just happened to miss removing it from here (i.e. it wasn’t a hack).

Thanks again for letting me know of the picture!
