Curly Hair Men Talk – Mark from London

Rogelio keeps it international and speaks to worldwide Curly Hair Men to discover what they are all up to. Today, we have curly Mark all over from the United Kingdom, the land of Her Majesty the Queen, the best steak and kidney pudding (ever!) and (irony mode ON) great singer Cheryl Cole (irony mode OFF)!

curly hair men talk with mark from the UKName: Mark. Some people call me Marco.

Location: London

Hair Type: Type II

Introduce yourself!¬†Hi guys how are you doing I’m Mark. I live in London with my girlfriend where I work in affiliate marketing for a travel start-up and enjoy all the good things in life: Italian food, cycling and watching movies in particular. I have curly-wavy hair that becomes unmanageable when long.

How do you care for your hair? My scalp tends to flake if I am not careful and I can easily suffer from dandruff. I have tried many products out there, most anti-dandruff shampoos, some of them have actually made the problem worse. Funnily enough, I have found that the shampoo that best works for my dad is the one that works best for me! I try not to overuse hair gel (in fact I use it only occasionally), and keep it short, otherwise it starts to have a life of its own. This is it. I have not reached an age yet where I have to consider buying hair-colouring products advertised by retired footballers!

Weirdest hair moment? It’s kind of embarrassing but when I was 15 years old I wanted to get dreadlocks so badly but had no idea how to do it so ended up getting braids! I looked like¬†Taribo West, the flamboyant Nigerian football player. Actually it was a brave move and although I did not start a trend at school some people really liked it. Luckily I do not have any pictures of this on the internet!

Favorite hairstyle or haircut? I have to admit that, at this stage in my life, I like short, mature, manly looks. Celebrities like George Clooney or a younger Sean Connery come to mind.

One tip for a better lifestyle: Work hard, dedicate yourself to family and friends, do sports and eat less junk food. In this country we eat way too much crap.

Favorite place you have been to in the whole world: That would be Brazil, I am even thinking of living there! (Editor’s note: Sir, you have my blessing)

If you could go back in time 100 years… I am happy living in this day and age, I would not want to turn the clocks back, especially not to a pre-world war I Europe.

Casual or formal wear? Smart casual.

Shaving razors or clippers? Shaving razors AND clippers. They each have their own purpose.

One celebrity with a mane you are inspired by: I am a big fan of Entourage so that would have to be Adrian Grenier. I also happen to think he is a great actor.

One celebrity you’d go dining with: Neil Armstrong. Can you imagine meeting the man who walked on the moon?

One celebrity you’d punch in the face: The entire cast of Jersey Shore.

Chuck Norris vs Batman. Who wins? Chuck Norris without a doubt. He wouldn’t even need weapons.

Gym or outdoors exercising? Living in England where our weather is so infamous I would have to say the gym.

One song for an enjoyable evening: “Ain’t no sunshine” by Bill Withers.

Manly Curls is… for men who are proud of being themselves. Big up!

Final words? I’m really thankful for taking part in this fantastic blog. At last someone out there to help out those of us that do fall into a certain category of Hollywood-style looks. Keep it real. (Editor’s note: Damn right, Mark!)

    Dear Rogelio,

Another great article. I’ve been following the blog for awhile and can truly applaud your dedication to keeping Men with Manly Curls informed and educated. Not to mention the advice, along with articles like this one aren’t confined to one culture or style.

    Keep up the good work!
