Another episode of curly hair men with Kenny

Name: Kenny

Location: Memphis currently but I will be living in New York City very soon!

Hair Type: Type IV

Introduce yourself! I am Skinny Kenny an aspiring comic. I have just recently moved back to America and I doing a lot of different things. I just recently opened a clothing shop for slim men.

How do you take care of your hair? A lot of people have asked me what I do to take care of my hair. And I don’t really know how to answer them. My hair became the way it is do to certain circumstances… I was living in Japan, and I would cut my own hair every week or so. One day I grabbed my hair clippers turned them on, and nothing…. They were dead. So I had no choice but to grow my hair out. I didn’t have a problem with having an afro, because I had one a long time ago. But this time I didn’t have an afro pic/comb so it got nasty and locked up on it’s own accord. I guess people like it nasty!

So now that you know how my hairstyle formed, you won’t be surprised when I tell you that I do absolutely nothing to take care of my hair. It just does what it will.

Weirdest hair moment? Eating at a restaurant on a date, I slowly see something come into my field of vision. Once I got a clear view I realized it was a spider about the size of a quarter. It had apparently been living in my hair! There was a web under construction in there. She didn’t want to see me again :(

Favorite hairstyle or haircut? I really like mohawks. I don’t think I’d ever wear one personally but I still think they look good. Especially when they are dyed a vibrant color. I once saw a man in Mexico who had a mohawk and his hair was dyed to look like a leopard. Best hair ever!

Words to live by: If you hesitate you masturbate

Favorite place you have been to in the whole world: Osaka, Japan. Love that city to death. It has shaped who I am today in so many ways. No moment in my life has been as defining as the time spent living there.

Most people think of Tokyo when they imagine Japan. Tokyo is garbage compared to Osaka. If you like a huge city, but also like to be laid back then Osaka is the #1 choice in the world. People in Tokyo are way to busy you will be hard pressed to see your friends there…

If you could go back in time 100 years… I don’t think I would being a minority and all. Wouldn’t be all that great for me.

Casual or formal wear? Ultra modern is what I would say. But I guess it would lean more towards formal. I take pride in my appearance. I hate when people ask me, “Why are you so dressed up?”. The real question is why are you so dressed down?

Shaving razors or clippers? Clippers first then a razor for that extra close shave

One celebrity with a mane you are inspired by: Jacob Miller. But he died years ago… I really love his music. I’m a huge rasta/dread head

One celebrity you’d go dining with: No one I don’t really keep up with celebrities that much to want to hang out with any of them.

One celebrity you’d punch in the face: Again I have no involvement in any popular culture really. I don’t even watch TV. Plus I’m not a fighter.

Chuck Norris vs Batman. Who wins? Batman. He’s the Dark Knight

Gym or outdoors exercising? Both. Gym for weight lifting and the outdoors for running. I am an avid barefoot/minimalist runner. I love running outdoors in my Vibram. I don’t know what turns more heads my legs or my shoes :)

One song for an enjoyable evening: Wipala by Gonzalo Vargas

Manly Curls is… Cool. I think men should celebrate their hair. I’m an eccentric person myself. I have my own style and taste. I don’t like when men and women tell me I am “doing too much”. Why should only women’s hair be celebrated? Why must men be relegated to so few choices of hairstyle and fashion? (Editor’s note: awesome words, Kenny!)

Final words? Check out the various things I do… My clothing line which I mentioned earlier. As well as my comedy site, Skinny Kenny and my Twitter @Sk1nny_K3nny (Editor’s note: guys, check out his site, you are guaranteed some good reading!)
