Introduce yourself!

Hello there! I’m Kelvin, born in NJ, but currently a sophomore college student in SC studying Mechanical Engineering. I would like to think of myself as being very athletic. I’ve played tennis for more than ten years, hit the gym regularly and I’m also vegetarian!

How do you care for your hair?

I would have to say my hair-type generally would seem like a huge hassle for most, initially, but I would definitely say things have gotten easier for me to take care of it as I get more experience. I generally spend time in the shower brushing my hair with a paddle brush and shampooing it (with a shampoo that doesn’t dry it out) about every five days or so. I find that my hairstyle works best if I can retain most of my natural hair oils. I always try to wash my hair daily, using a moisturizing conditioner and shake dry, kind of like a dog, as put by a roommate. (Editor’s Note: LOL, I do this same dog-like method too!)

Weirdest hair moment?

The first and last time I tried to trim my hair was a disaster! I thought that by taking random groups of hair and cutting them a little would turn out even but was baffled, dazed, and confused at the results. To this day, my hair is very uneven but I figured the longer it gets the easier it will be to trim correctly.

Favorite hairstyle or haircut? My favorite hairstyle would definitely have to be the wash and go for it’s ease and simplicity.

One tip for a better lifestyle:

I would say that understanding various people and cultures would definitely put your own lifestyle in perspective and perhaps improve it. (Editor’s Note: 100% agreed)

Favorite place you have been to in the whole world: I’ve been in the States my whole life but I thoroughly enjoyed Camp Greenville, Cleveland, as a kid in middle school.

You have just built a time machine, what time period in history are you visiting? I would probably go back to the time of very primitive humans so I could be the smartest!

Casual or formal wear? I prefer casual, mostly shorts and a t-shirt, even during winter.

For your shaving, razors or clippers? Razors are good if you want a certain style but clippers make sure things don’t get out of control

One celebrity with a mane you are inspired by:

Travis(Travie) Mccoy, lead vocalist from Gym Class Heroes, really inspired me because I can really relate myself to many of the songs he writes.

One celebrity you’d go dining with:

I think it would be pretty sweet to go with Morgan Freeman so he can narrate my life.

One celebrity you’d punch in the face:

Russell Brand! Then maybe he’d finally learn how to be entertaining for a change. (Editor’s Note: good call, Kelvin!)

Chuck Norris vs Batman. Who wins? I’m going with Chuck! Batman just doesn’t have the beard.

Gym or outdoors exercising? I like certain aspects of both, but I would say Gym is better to bulk up and outdoor exercising would be good for toning.

One song for an enjoyable evening: Jackson 5, “ABC”!

Manly Curls is… interesting! This is the first of its kind I’ve come across to put focus into cool people with curls!

Final words?

I’m glad that this blog exists for those men who would like to see others like them with various or similar hairstyles and lifestyles. (Editor’s Note: Kelvin likes to talk all about lifestyle on his Youtube channel so feel free to visit him to get more inspiration on Type V hair and hear the many interesting thing he has to say about everything!)

Great interview, I have Type V hair and his locks look great. I have been considering growing them for some time and I think seeing how they can look with Kelvin as an example is mroe than enough to convince me!
