Today At Curly Hair Men Talk, it is my pleasure to bring you all another cool curly dude, Darius. A music artist by vocation, Darius also talks natural hair in his Youtube channel which he hosts with his girlfriend. Read for Darius’ approach to life and, of course, his locks!

Name: Darius G
Location: Indianapolis
Hair Type: Type V
Introduce yourself! Hello there! I am Darius, named after Persian royalty but I also go by DG. I am an independent recording artist/musician but regularly known as the co-host of The Loc Block on YouTube. Ray Symone (my girlfriend) and I continue to log our loc journey and share tips and helpful information to allow individuals into the world beautiful naturalness.
How do you care for your hair? I would like to call this the “Shake and Go” method. I have a spray bottle filled with water and about a 1/4 cup of grape seed oil. Every morning I shake the bottle, spray my hair, shake my locs, and that’s about it. I wash my hair once or twice a week or every other week using natural black soap with lemon grass or castile soap diluted with water. You’d be surprised of how little of the soap you actually need. Ray palm rolls my hair about once every month and a half with liquid lanolin which we mix with aloe vera gel. I let my hair air dry and occasionally we will use clips to hold the locs until they have dried.

Weirdest hair moment? I’d have to say my weirdest hair moment was when I walked into Wal-Mart, with these shiny silver things (clips) in my hair because my hair hadn’t dried yet and I had to make a run. EVERYONE stared at the the tall young “African American” man with those things in his hair. I felt a little misunderstood that day.
Favorite hairstyle or haircut? I haven’t tried any styles yet but I plan to in the near future. My locs just hang for now.
One tip for a better lifestyle: Drink water more than any other liquid! haha. Also, pay attention to the products you put on your body and in your hair. You are a sponge, what you put in those places your body will absorb. (Editor’s Note: <— This!)
Favorite place you have been to in the whole world: As of right now, I’d have to say the Great Smoky Mountains. I stayed in a cabin there once. A location that was very tranquil, inspiring, and scenically pleasant. I recommend that everyone should experience life away from the busy urban jungles so many of us call home.
You have just built a time machine, what time period in history are you visiting? I’d have to have say the late 60′s and early 70′s at Motown’s Hitsville USA studio. The creation of timeless music played an important role in racial integration within the popular genres which lead to crossovers. It would be amazing to witness legends working in the studio. (Editor’s Note: I’m so visiting with you!)

Casual or formal wear? Casual
For your shaving, razors or clippers? Both! Yes Lord!
One celebrity with a mane you are inspired by: Bobby McFerrin
One celebrity you’d go dining with: Janelle Monae
One celebrity you’d punch in the face: Gasp! That isn’t nice!
Chuck Norris vs Batman. Who wins? Ooooo toughie! I’d have to say a tie. I’m cool with Chuck Norris and I’m headed to Gotham City next week.
Gym or outdoors exercising? Fresh air is the best air!

One song for an enjoyable evening: “I feel Better” by Gotye Buy his Making Mirrors Album!
Manly Curls is..Naturally Manly. Haha (Editor’s Note: mmm, gonna give that one a thought and maybe change our slogan…)
Final words? Thank You Rogelio and Manly Curls for this little awesome interview!
(Editor’s Note: I recommend you guys to check Darius Youtube channel, TheLocBlock, he and his girlfriend post videos on a frequent basis covering hair topics in an enjoyable and cool manner, heck, they are so authentic that I even subscribed to their channel and I tend to avoid hair channels for the most part!
