On today’s Curly Hair Men Talk episode we have Evan, a cool dude who has got some great curls and also truly enjoys the outdoors. Read ahead to get to know his interesting words on all lifestyle-related!

Introduce yourself!
I am 20 years old, and have been living in the DC area my whole life (technically in Maryland, but only blocks away from the DC line). I work for my father who is a general contractor and go to school full time.
How do you care for your hair?
No magical secrets here. When I go to the grocery store I load up on whatever conditioner and shampoos that are on sale. Surprisingly my hair does not require careful care and attention. I wash it, condition it, and occasionally I comb it in the shower with the aid of conditioner to get any knots out. When it is wet it hangs down like a jheri curl and when it dries it is springy and tight, slowly growing more and more frizzy the longer it takes for the next wash and conditioning. (Editor’s Note: Evanmichael is solid proof that a minimalist approach to curly hair care is doable!)
Weirdest hair moment?
A few years ago, I had my hair braided in cornrows which I do sometimes in the summertime to escape the heat. I went on a two week backpacking trip in New Mexico with my hair in the cornrows and needless to say it was very sunny and I got quite a tan. When I came back, I decided it was time for a change so I shaved my head completely bald and for a few weeks I had extremely prominent tanned stripes on my head from the cornrows making my head look like a watermelon. All the hair was back within a year though.
Favorite hairstyle or haircut?
I do not really have a favorite hairstyle I guess because I haven’t experienced many. My hair has had three basic forms in my lifetime:
- Fro
- Braids
- Shaved/short cut
Right now I like the big hair, I get alot of comments and I am lucky enough to have fine hair so it is comfortable, but when my hair was shaved I enjoyed that too so for now no favorites.
One tip for a better lifestyle:
Always make time for a hobby or hobbies. A lot of people let themselves be consumed by their occupation that even though they may make a good living, they miss out on life. Some people may call you lazy but if you are happy and they are perpetually stressed out, who is really living right?
I have alot of hobbies (maybe too many but oh well): I enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities like hunting, camping, kayaking, cycling etc, and I also enjoy photography, cooking, baking, and knitting among many others. Right now my biggest hobby is probably airsoft which, if you take a look at my YouTube channel you’ll see what that is if you dont know. Favorite place you have been to:
Sadly Ive never been out of the country (USA) so my choices are limited but I would have to say Cimarron (New Mexico). It is where I went on that 2 week backpacking trip I mentioned earlier and it was definitely one of the best experiences of my life
You have just built a time machine, what time period in history are you visiting?
The late 60′s and into the 70′s for the music and muscle cars
Casual or formal wear?
Depends on the occasion but overall Id say casual
