Like I had so enthusiastically prepared you already, this book is a book that is there to provide an overall solution: that you finally get to be happy with your hair. All about hair care, grooming and hair management with enough inspiration and motivation to feed your desire to get you having your curly locks looking awesome; these 221 pages of constant hair-related knowledge give you not only the wisdom but also the plan with the steps and actions to take to get your curly hair looking like you want it to look. Long will be the days of having your hair doing what it wants and not being able to get your beastly hair under control.

In fact, I have termed the whole getting your locks looking great as the Awesome Mane concept. This is how I describe this particular concept of mine in the book:

An awesome mane is not just about having great-looking curly hair. An awesome mane is curly hair that has been taken beyond mediocrity and that symbolises a positive attitude to oneself and to one’s overall life. The awesome mane concept digs into the core of a male’s need to better himself in order to maximise his potential. It rehashes the perspective of curly hair from that of a seemingly trivial and negative trait to that of a valuable asset that is an integral piece of the puzzle that makes you as a male, with this puzzle being, what I call, the self-puzzle. (Page 14, Chapter 1)

This book is much more than a hair book; it is your manual to having great-looking curly hair as a male. In the book, you will find a lot about the mindset, attitude and mental part of living your life with a head full of luscious curls, for you will need this part of your hair management to successfully keep your waves, coils or kinks for the future.

Since I created this site, I have been able to reach worldwide to folks like you, and this book is my next step, after my site, to spread the awesome mane word; a word that emphasises the blend of convenience and great cosmetic results in one’s hair management equation.

As a curly dude myself, I know that you too have gone through periods of disliking your hair. I know that you have tried to do something about your hair in the past, only to find that your hair looked awful. I also know that you very likely forget about your hair by hitting the barber every X number of weeks to trim your hair (or trim your hair yourself) because you don’t know what to do with your curly locks. I have termed these very real issues buzz cuts and dead rats.

The “dead rat” is the opposite of an awesome mane in terms of hair knowledge; you know the kind of hair that I am talking about. Like you, I have tried growing my locks over an inch in length, and I would always end up sporting what looked like a dead rat on top of my head. (Page 18, Chapter 1)

The “buzz cut” is the opposite of an awesome mane in terms of attitude. The buzz cut is the haircut of those curly haired men who force themselves to hit the barber every X amount of weeks to get a neat buzz cut or short trim because they want to forget about their manes as they regard their hair in a negative manner. (Page 18, Chapter 1)

The idea with this book is to convert your buzz cut or dead rat into an awesome mane; this book will revamp the attitude towards your hair and show you the way to manage your hair conveniently and successfully for the rest of your life. Even if you don’t think you own a buzz cut or dead rat, this book will be your tool to maximise your curly hair.

A man with long curly hair writing in Paris

I did a lot of chilling out by the Eiffel Tower and the nearby brasseries while writing the book (on paper!)

This book has been a long project of mine, and I have written this book in 4 countries, from the breath-taking scenery of Spain’s southern beaches to the bohemian and creative setting of the Sacré Cœur in Paris. I have gathered inspiration from many sources, and I have regarded my book as a way of creating so as to help others create. In The Curly Hair Book: Or How Men Can Now Rock Their Waves, Coils and Kinks not only will you find the knowledge and wisdom for your hair but you will also learn to create your hair as you like, to customise it to your persona. This book will allow you to enhance your whole self via the addressing of such a personal trait of yours.

Gentlemen, curly hair is not a hairstyle, it’s a lifestyle; it’s the slogan of our site, and it’s our personal slogan. With this book, I want to reach to each and every one of you who want to get their wavy hair, kinky hair, kinky-curly hair, curly hair, afro-textured hair and unexplainably-curly hair rocking and be proud of what they have atop their heads.

This is the start of our revolution, gentlemen, and you are welcome on board.

All the best,

Rogelio

WHERE AND HOW TO BUY THE BOOK

The Curly Hair Book can now be purchased at Amazon and in specialized bookstores across North America, Europe and Australia. I have set the price as it is so that you guys can give yourself a great-value gift (or give others) for Christmas (click on Give as a Gift on the right). Be among the first to purchase the book as it is available from today!

While The Curly Hair Book will be published permanently as a paperback book at both Amazon and specialized bookstores, the Kindle version will come and go in terms of availability, so if it’s currently available, then don’t hesitate to purchase it as a Kindle if you own a Kindle tablet! You can also read Kindle book in your computer, mobile phone or other e-reading tablets since Amazon provides the software for free to read Kindle book in non-Kindle tablets too.

If you don’t own a Kindle tablet but would like to own one (you can store thousands of books and it’s a very handy gadget), then I recommend the Kindle Fire tablet which is awesome and quite possibly the best tablet out of all e-reading tablets out there. Depending on your location, you can read more about the Kindle Fire tablet in its country-level Amazon page: this official Amazon page for those of you in the US and outside Europe, and this official Amazon page for those of you in the UK or Europe.

Enjoy!

The table with the extended and visible lengths is so useful and it really explains why i’m always so slow to grow length every time i go for a haircut.
Thanks for putting a book like this.

Excellent book mate. Working on my shampoo frequency as we speak. So I should use the generic routine until I find my optimal frequency then?

      Hi Jason,

Yep, use the generic routine. Take your time with the shampooing frequency.

Great book! Bought it yesterday and read it for 4 hours straight. Will be reading some more tonight after work. I have to also do all the hair profiling that you talk about to get doing the stuff in the grooming chapter.

      Hi CJ,

I believe you can buy it, then put it into your favourite reading platform (either Kindle or PC, phone etc). Best bet is to send a quick email to Amazon customer support, they are surprisingly fast in getting back.

If you’re still unsure, let me know and I’ll try to dig around.

      All the best.

I’ve bought your book and really liking it. I’d like to recommend it to my brother but for some reason he has a Sony ereader, not a Kindle tablet. I’d like to give him your book as a gift for Christmas but would he be able to read it on his Sony ereader?
Thanks man, and congratulations on the book, it really is one of a kind!

      Hi Sam,

I believe that Kindle books are not compatible with Sony ereaders. this has to with with the format of Kindle books (.mobi); Sony ereaders read .epub. in fact, the .mobi thing is a mess to format for us authors when publishing, but that’s the way Amazon does it. However, I’m considering publishing my book on Sony and Nobles & Barnes. I’ll update through our Facebook fan page and Twitter account too, so keep an eye out, fellow curly brah!

      All the best.

I’m on chapter 3 and so far I know that I have Type IV curly hair on the top, and Type V on the sides. I always thought my hair would be more towards Type V but took the ruler out and measured the curls as the guide dictated. Epic book Rogelio, learning a lot of interesting stuff.

Yep, keep reading; there’s much more knowledge to be acquired in the next chapter (hair care chapter). You’re all welcome to give feedback/input, by the way.
Glad you are liking it, by the time you finish reading you’ll have learnt all about your hair.

      All the best.
