So, as you know, I’m posting the first chapter of my book The Curly Hair Book here at Manly Curls so that you guys can get a sneak peek of a book that covers absolutely all to do with hair care for wavy hair, coiled hair, kinky hair, afro-textured hair and all the shapes and forms of manes that go under the umbrella term curly hair.
Oh, and did I say that it’s a book for men?
Part II – The Beginning Of It In A Nushell
Fast-forward again, now to about 11 years after I had this revealing episode. I am writing a book, and it is not a book I would have thought 11 years ago that I would have decided to write. But then, this 11-year gap hasn’t been what I’d considered a normal gap: I have been fortunate enough to so far have lived in 5 countries while developing my career, travelling around the world, meeting plenty of people, discovering new cultures and, of course, experimenting, trialling and testing everything on my curly hair and the waves, coils and kinks of other men.
After 11 years, I can say that I am happy with my curly hair and that I know all I need to know about it. As a modern guy living in a fast-paced society, I want results, and I want those results to come with convenience. I certainly don’t like wasting my time, and I like to look good too. My curly hair is part of my image, and it needs to look good without costing me my testosterone levels or inciting me to watch repeat episodes of Sex in the City. I like to wake up, have a quick shower, groom my curls and be out the bathroom in less than 10 minutes, ready to put on some clothes, grab my stuff for the day and leave my house satisfied with the stuff atop my head. And that’s precisely what this book is all about.
All of my hair-related experience and lessons learnt are in this book. Everything good that has come out of my years of hacking my way into the pursuit of mastering curly hair is here. This book will show you how to groom and care after your waves, coils or kinks, and, just as importantly, it will instil in you the right attitude to have when it comes to sporting great curly hair without having to become a hair diva or spend your free time in hair salons surrounded by women gossiping about hot guys.
Having a great-looking head of curls as a male is not as difficult as you may have been made to believe, and the ultimate goal of this book is to offer you the until-now-unknown option of incorporating great curly hair into your life without having to sacrifice your lifestyle as a 21st century male. I have made it my personal goal to make this book your blueprint to great curly hair and show you everything to make your waves, coils or kinks a precious asset that will forever enhance your looks, confidence and overall life.
