The Curly Hair Book: Chapter 1 & Part III

Gentlemen,

Here is Part III of the first chapter of my book The Curly Hair Book: Or How Men Can Now Rock Their Waves, Coils And Kinks that I’m uploading here for all of you.

The curly hair book or how men can now rock their waves, coils and kinks

In this part (technically the first part of the 1st chapter), I tell you my reasons for coming up with this book and why you want to read it. I introduce the Awesome Mane concept, which I later expand on, and I tell you all about that is to come in the next 200+ pages. You can also read Part I and Part II by clicking in their links.

Here is Part III.

1) Introduction: The Start Of An Awesome Mane Journey

A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life”

Charles Darwin

Why this book?

Because I have been in your place.

For many years, I went about my life without knowing what to do with my curly hair. Some days, I’d be able to tame it and put it into submission; other days my curly hair would just do whatever it wanted to do. I was never able to grow my curly hair more than a mere inch in length because doing so implied too much effort and dramas when it came to managing my mane. At the end of the day, I’d choose to sport my curly hair in a buzz cut and forget about it.

The thing is, curly hair is awesome. It really is. Curly hair comes in all shapes and forms: from smooth waves to unimaginable coils to exotic kinks. In reality, curly hair is just the umbrella term for all the types of hair that do not grow straight hence the multiple expressions available with curly hair. Regardless of the type, curly hair will enhance the image of its fortunate owner when looked after properly, yet most wavy, coiled and kinky haired men remain clueless as to how to groom and wear their manes optimally. We curly men lack optimal information on curly hair specific to our male needs, and we also lack inspiration from both popular curly men and average curly Joes who would otherwise motivate the rest of us to do something about our own locks. No wonder the vast majority of curly haired fellas are clueless about their hair!

While it is true that some popular curly haired dudes like Adrian Grenier, Justin Timberlake or Lenny Kravitz have all great curls, they also have enough money to be able to hire their own expert team of stylists and image consultants to do the hair care job for them. Many times, however, these popular men become dependent on image professionals to get their manes looking the part, and depending on other people is never the best way to go about in life. I always say that, if you want things done properly, it is you who must do them, not others.

Being able to make the most of our curly hair as males living modern lives becomes quite the trick: we lack optimal information on our hair texture, and the dudes whom we look up to for inspiration and as social reference are not always the best examples since the reality tends to be distorted in many of their cases. All of this is why I made it my goal to write a book in which I specifically and extensively covered everything to do with curly hair for men; a book written by a curly dude for curly dudes.

With The Curly Hair Book: Or How Men Can Now Rock Their Waves, Coils And Kinks, you will learn how to manage and groom your curly hair, and you will get your mane rocking all by yourself with the convenience and attitude that we 21st century males need as we live in this modern, hectic world. The end result of all this is what I have termed the “awesome mane” concept.

An awesome mane is more than just great-looking curly hair. An awesome mane is the result of knowing how to manage your curly hair and integrating it into your image, personality and life, which ultimately allows you to be truly satisfied with your hair. When you have an awesome mane, you have discarded any conventional notions of taming your hair with a buzz cut and you have fought the hair ignorance that unfortunately populates most curly males’ minds. Because an awesome mane is based on knowledge, its achievement will allow you to reap the many benefits of having great-looking curls as you add another positive element to your life, and, since a good life is all about achieving success after success, you will be able to work towards an even better life with your newly-achieved success: your awesome mane. Sounds too elaborate and complex? Well, it’s as simple as putting the knowledge you acquire in this book into actions, and you will soon have your awesome mane on autopilot.

This book will show you the tidbits of curly hair; it will teach you how to groom, manage and look after your curls, and it will enable you to live your life with an awesome mane. What’s more is that I have written this book with YOU in the back of my mind at all times: this book is not a hair diva book, this book is not written by someone who doesn’t know anything about living life as a modern male, and this book will not bore you to death with what you’d otherwise regard as girly content. I am a male, I have curly hair, and I have a goal: to help you achieve your awesome mane.

Hi rogelio! I am loving your site, I love my curly hair, but I have a few problems with it.
Could you please offer a tutorial on how to get curls like french actor Louis Garrel or brazilian model Max Motta. My hair is similar to them, but I can’t seem to get the great volume their hairs achieve.

      Hi Jeff,

I may cover them in the future though having hairs like theirs is depending upon having the same curl type (Type I-II) and having the right haircare and grooming (it’s all in the book).

You can check this Wash and Go tutorial I’ve written, which is what they are essentially doing. You can try using a hair/blow dryer at the end of enhanced puffiness as is the case of Max Motta (remember use the coldest setting)!

Let me know how it goes buddy.

      All the best.
