Haircut for the Shake and Go hairstyle

Get your hair to an even medium length (preferably 4-5 inches) all around your head. Alternatively, you can have the sides and back tapered down to a #2 while the top is 4-5 inches in length. Lastly, you can also have your hair at a long length, but make sure that your hair is no longer than eyebrow level (i.e. the hair on the front of the head is not long enough to cover your eyes).

How to style the Shake and Go hairstyle

Coat your damp waves, coils or kinks with your chosen hairstyling product, then shake your head sideways until you’re happy with how the hair looks. Once you’ve shaken your head, bend your head forward and rapidly swing it backwards; that’s it, do not manipulate the hair or touch it. Both the shaking and the swinging back of the hair will get your waves/coils/kinks resting freely on your head; because, at a medium length (and even at a long length), curly hair will still defy gravity, the Shake & Go will give you a very-natural look to your hair.

Good hairstyling products to use to style your hair include hair gel, hair mousse, natural oils and/or a leave-in conditioner. You can mix and match the quoted products or alternate between them according to the day. In the case of natural oils, only coat the tips of the curls.

Awesome website. I tried this hairstyle with some gel. Worked really well. I am type4/type5. It worked really well but I need to wait about 6 months as my wash and go falls about an inch above my eyes. Need to wait until I have about a year and a half of hair

    Hi.

Do you recommend combing the hair out first?

    Thank you.

      Hi Jessica.

If you have curly hair, you can use your fingers, not a comb.
